Artist Statement

I have a lot of creative artists in my family. My great grandma painted for a living, my grandpa creates and designs boats/airplane models, my grandma was also a painter and still is, and my dad went to Herron. I guess you could say I have a lot of art in my blood. From such a young age, I had caught the eye of many people with my artistic abilities. So, when I entered AP Studio Art, I wanted to have a theme that would catch people's eyes. I wanted to mix my love for movies and creativity together.

How can well known artworks from the past be transformed into artwork that is more modern to today? This is how I started to create my parodies. Each time I would watch a movie and a certain scene reminded me of a painting, or visa versa, I would jot it down into my sketchbook or phone to remember. When I first began AP Studio, I knew that I wanted to do drawing and not digital because I love having my media right in front of me. I figured with my theme, I would paint since my original references were paintings. Painting hasn't always been the easiest for me, but I wanted to accept this challenge and finish strong in my artworks. I grew fond to acrylic paint and found many different ways to use it in my projects.

I am very happy with how my projects turned out, thanks to the encouragement from my amazing classmates and teacher. AP Studio Art will forever be my favorite class. It has taught me so many wonderful things in life; don't let other people distract you from being yourself. Everyone is creative in their own ways, it's just some are more shy to express themselves. Each one of my projects has a little piece trapped in it that was happening at the time of its creation.
