AP Studio

My AP Studio Crew from 2018/2019

The AP Art and Design courses focus on helping students develop 2-D design, 3-D design, or drawing portfolios. The courses emphasize practice, experimentation, and revision of one's work as it develops, and thoughtful integration of materials, processes and ideas.

While most AP classes prepare all year for a big exam at the end of the school year, AP Studio puts together an extensive art portfolio and submits that in place of the traditional exam.  With all AP classes College Board assigns a score 1-5, with a 3, 4 or 5 being a passing score.  

In AP Studio students are not assigned specific projects, but instead come up with their own ideas and objectives.  The resulting art creations are extremely original and personal.  

To help these students along their journey traditional technique is taught, as well as ideas for how to think and create outside of the box.  The class also participates in formal class critiques and field trips.
